Summary and Purpose:

To work within our fast-paced CNC department operating flatbed milling CNC machines processing bespoke variations of stone products required for Worksurfaces.

The post holder should ensure that all processes within the CNC area are carried out accurately within tolerance and as efficiently as possible whilst ensuring the machines and housekeeping are maintained to the highest possible standard as described within the relevant departmental SOP’s.

A keen eye to detail of both visual and dimensional quality checks with the ability to read engineering drawings are essential within the role to ensure delivery of a quality end product.

The CNC operator must be responsible to follow and comply with all company safety guidelines.

Immediate priorities:

  • To gain an understanding of current CNC practices and material types involved.
  • Familiarises themselves with all tooling required to perform the desired processes.
  • Gain knowledge of our manufacturing tolerances and specifications.
  • Gain knowledge around our quality standards and adheres to them.
  • Have a full understanding around H&S within the area and required PPE.
  • Gain experience around profiles and various cut outs with or without polish.
  • Confident in Excel spreadsheet completion for daily KPI capture.
  • All non-conforming issues to be recorded by means of SMR procedure and reported to supervision.
  • Be involved with the Internal Supplier/customer regarding any quality issues received or produced in the Hand finish department.
  • All housekeeping duties are completed along with daily maintenance check sheets (PPM)

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

  • Oversees CNC machinery set up to make sure arrangement is safe and ready to handle it’s assigned load.
  • Prove the preloaded programme in simulation to ensure correct tooling is assigned by CAM and make suitable adjustment if required. 
  • Loads materials onto the machines using a TVL lifter as assistance, manual lifting also required as necessary.
  • Cuts, grinds, or drills materials in machine as required and adjusting wear offsets to ensure dimensional accuracy on finished components.
  • Monitoring CNC machine whilst in operation, intervening in the case of a machining or mechanical error and reporting to supervision.
  • Performs tasks following the company’s operating standards whilst adhering to safety regulations in place.
  • Regularly inspects the machines for mechanical and safety issues whilst carrying out daily PPM checks and report failings to supervision / Technical.
  • Ensures pre and post visual and dimensional checks are carried out on products to ensure product conformity is achieved before passing to the next operation.
  • Any non-conforming product should be highlighted to the area supervision so an SMR report / remake can be raised.
  • Communicate with other shifts and accurately document daily production KPI’s.
  • Works in a safety conscious environment following safe working practice guidelines with additional vigilance to the rest of the team.

Working Hours: Monday - Thursday 06:00 - 14:00 / 14:00 - 22:30 & Friday 06:00-14:00 / 14:00-20:00
