We’re a fifth-generation family business, grounded in service and built on experience. Our group spans manufacturing, distribution, retail, and sales representation, bringing KBB knowledge, reliability, and infrastructure together under one roof.


Through our three principal businesses, PWS Distributors, Life Kitchens, and the Danesmoor Agency, we support trade, retail, and commercial partners with innovative solutions, trusted products, and consistently high standards of service.

Our Heritage & History

Pws Shop

1903

Percy W Stephenson opens a hardware store in Darlington, laying the foundations for a business rooted in quality and service.

1940s

Post-war demand sees the business expand into joinery, architectural ironmongery and ceramics, building the skills and specialisms that still define us today.

As demand grew, we moved into new premises across two sites, and branched into ceramics, architectural ironmongery and joinery services – which eventually led to us supplying kitchen componentry and furniture.

Main

1980s

PWS Distributors is established, supplying kitchen componentry to a growing trade market and forging strong European manufacturing partnerships.

2005

Mark Stephenson acquires the business and forms Danesmoor Group, bringing PWS, Danesmoor Agency and new ventures under one group structure.

Significant investment enables the development of a major worksurfaces facility and one of Europe’s most advanced paint finishing lines.

Mark Stephenson, CEO

Mark is part of the fourth generation of Stephenson family that has led & grown the business from its Darlington Ironmongery shop foundations in 1903, to become today one of the leading distributors and suppliers to the UK KBB trade through the PWS and Life brands.

Chris Wragg, Group Managing Director

Chris joined the Danesmoor Group in August 2024 as Group Marketing Director and stepped up to Group Managing Director in October 2025. Chris brings external experience to the Group from senior leadership roles in both big multi-national FMCG businesses such as Mars and Nestlé, but also in Private Equity & family investor backed businesses.

Oliver Stephenson, Director

Oliver is a fifth-generation member of the Stephenson family and has grown up immersed in the business. Over 15 years he has gained hands-on experience across a wide range of roles within the Danesmoor Group. Drawing on this experience, he now helps shape the Group’s strategic direction and leads its People and Culture strategy. 

Lee Appleby Low Res

Lee Appleby, Group Manufacturing and Operations Director

Lee joined the Danesmoor Group in July 2023 as Group Director of Manufacturing & Operations. 

Lee brings extensive senior leadership experience from across the manufacturing and logistics sectors, having led multi-site operations for major UK and international businesses including Metsa Wood, KP Snacks. Lee has a strong track record in leading transformation programmes focused on efficiency, scalability, and sustainable growth.

Graham Thompson Low Res

Graham Thomson, Group Finance Director

Graham joined the Danesmoor Group in February 2022 as Head of Finance and was promoted to Group Finance Director in September 2022. Graham qualified at a regional accountancy firm before joining KPMG. He has experience in Private Equity and family backed businesses. At his time with Quantum Pharmaceutical, Graham was a part of the senior leadership team that executed the groups admission to AIM prior to being appointed group finance director, following its acquisition by Clinigen.  

Paul Dorrington Low Res

Paul Dorrington, Sales Director

Paul joined the Danesmoor Group on a work placement from Northumbria University in 2005 whilst studying product design. Following completion of his university degree Paul rejoined the group and has carried out sales roles across the organisation including Area and National Sales Manager. Joining the board in August 2024 Paul leads the sales strategy and sales teams across both PWS and Life Kitchens.

Marc Holmes, Director - Danesmoor Agency

Marc joined the Danesmoor Group in 2009 as Managing Director of Danesmoor Limited, later becoming Group Commercial Director in 2018. With senior leadership experience from The Meristem Furniture Group and MFI, he brings valuable sector knowledge and external perspective to the Group.

Kevin Gay, Director

Since joining PWS in 1988, Kevin has developed his career alongside the Group’s growth, taking on roles in IT, customer service, marketing, worksurfaces, and operations, as well as delivering major infrastructure projects. He joined the Board in 2015 and now leads IT and systems across the Danesmoor Group.

David joined Danesmoor Marketing in 1998 and has continued to work across different parts of the business. Currently overseeing the growth and development plan supplying kitchens and bedrooms into the contract market sector.
