Sustainability

Here at the Danesmoor Group we recognise that we have a responsibility to be environmentally and socially responsible.
We aim to have a positive impact both on the Planet and Society.

In this crucial United Nations defined Decade of Action, we want to ensure that we are a force for good: positively contributing to Society and the Planet by measuring our own impact on the environment.

Our path to Sustainability

We have furthered our sustainability commitment by becoming Planet Mark certified through measuring and reducing our carbon footprint.

Planet Mark is an internationally recognised Sustainability certification for every type of organisation.
A Planet Mark certification recognises continuous improvement, encourages action, and builds an empowered community of like-minded individuals who make a world of difference.

In this crucial #DecadeofAction, this is a key step in order to tackle the climate crisis.

Our Aim

  • Measure and evaluate our current Carbon footprint
  • Engage all of our stakeholders with a Company-wide Sustainability Policy
  • Communicate and involve all of our staff with our Sustainability Strategy
  • Reduce our Carbon emissions with a goal to become Net Zero by 2050
  • Having positively offset all of our Carbon emissions with Ecologi to become Carbon Neutral this year, continue to promote Carbon Neutrality with all stakeholders via tree planting initiatives.

Along with our carbon footprint, we will also be measuring our social value contributions.
We will do this by following the guide of the United Nations 17 Sustainability Development Goals which refer to net social and environmental benefits generated by our Company.

Measuring our social value gives a holistic insight into our contributions to the environment and society, and will guide us in our aim to contribute to a better planet for all.

By being more strategic about our social responsibility, we look to increase our positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within our community.

We quantifiably contribute to 9 of the
Sustainability Development Goals.

Charitable and Social contribution

We are delighted to announce our charity of the year for 2022/2023 is Dementia UK.

Following an incredible run over many years for Help for Heroes, in which the company raised over £314,000 through ‘Blood, Sweat and Gears’ a cycle challenge across South Africa, we have decided to rally the troops once more, to help support a cause close to many people’s hearts.

With over one million people across the UK expected to have a diagnosis of dementia by 2025, Mark Stephenson, CEO of The Danesmoor Group has pledged £60,000 of his own money, with the company determined to match funds via sponsorship across our group’s community.

We will kick-it off internally with a staff challenge to climb the Yorkshire three peaks in May. The task, which will see 30 colleagues scale 5200ft in less than 12 hours, supported by Humanurture, a company specialising in the strength and wellbeing of individuals in a corporate setting.

We have set up its own dedicated Just Giving page, where fundraising from all activities will be welcomed from across the community to show support to the team as they join in the fight towards beating Dementia.
