Overview:
As our Logistics Manager based at our Newton Aycliffe site, you will be a tactical leader for the warehouse and distribution function. You will report directly into the Site General Manager and have an indirect team of supervisors to lead through the Warehouse Manager to deliver a positive customer experience which engages an indirect team of resource whom you will coach, mentor, and develop as we continue on our journey of continuous improvement.
We are looking to recruit a dynamic and tactical Logistics Manager, leading the business through strong cross functional collaboration to achieve key strategic business objectives. A leader of transition to world class warehouse and distribution function by improving our customer experience, ensuring that we manufacture and supply quality products with a right first-time mentality. The Logistics Manager role is pivotal to maintaining our customer-centric approach by prioritising on customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
Leadership
- Vision Setting - Defining a clear vision and goals for the warehouse distribution team.
- Strategic Planning – Developing and executing strategic plans to achieve organisational objectives.
- Decision Making – Making informed and timely decisions that align with organisations goals.

- Strategic Alignment – Ensuring that the teams efforts align with the broader organisational strategy and goals.
General & Task Management
- Supply Chain Planning – develop and implement strategic plans for the supply chain to align for inventory levels according to forecast demand.
- Transport Management – Coordinate the movement of goods and optimise transportation routes via selection and management of carriers, considering cost, service and efficiency.
- Inventory Control – Monitor and manage inventory levels to meet required demand and implantation of efficient warehousing practices for inventory storage.
- Order Fulfilment – Oversee order processing and fulfilment to meet required customer expectations.
- Technology Integration – Implement and utilise logistics technology for tracking and management. Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in logistics technology.
- Continuous Improvement – Seek opportunities to optimise warehouse and logistics processes to reduce costs. To stay informed about industry best practices and implement improvements accordingly.
- Performance Monitoring – Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for warehouse and logistics operations. Identify areas of improvement and implement corrective actions.
People
- Team Leadership – Provide clear direction, motivation, and leadership to the direct team by fostering a positive and collaborative culture.
- Recruitment and Onboarding – participate in the recruitment process to select qualified team members. Facilitate the onboarding process for new employees.
- Training and development – Identify training needs and provide ongoing professional development opportunities. Support team members in acquiring new skills and knowledge.
- Performance Management – Set clear and defined expectations and goals for team members. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback accordingly.
- Empowerment and delegation – Empower team members by delegation responsibilities and tasks, providing the necessary tools and resources for success.
- Recognition and Reward – Acknowledge and reward outstanding performance with the team by fostering a culture of an open-door policy for the team to voice concerns or ideas.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years Senior management experience within Warehousing, Logistics, Distribution or Supply chain.
- 5+ years warehousing, logistics or distribution leadership experience
- Management of multi shift teams with a minimum of 50+ staff.
- Strong experience with ERP.
- Change management – experience leading change and transitions
- Communicating with impact - presentation skills in creation and delivery
- Budget management – Cost & Commercial awareness
- Computer literate (Windows) and is able to pick up new applications quickly
- Confident and self – assured

Desired Skills and Experience:
- Lean or Six Sigma qualifications
- Logistics or Supply Chain i.e. CIPS or MCIPS
- Relevant Degree
- Operator License Awareness
